These are the 10 quietest cars in 110 km/h measured by Swedish car magazine
Vi Bilägare
, and reported by

.
1. Mercedes Benz S-Class, 72,4 db
2. Volvo V60 Cross Country, 73,2 db
3. Audi A6 Avant, 73,5 db
4. Volvo V70, 73,6 db
5. Volvo XC60, 73,8 db
6. Volvo V90, 73,8 db
7. Skoda Superb, 73,9 db
8. VW Passat, 74,2 db

50 different cars were measured, and the worst?
The beloved MX-5 got 82.4 db, but it’s not supposed to be quiet inside anyways.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

So basically, if you want a quiet car, buy a European wagon. Preferably a Volvo.

Or an S-class. Or a Volvo 240 with a 5-speed gearbox.

Buying an S-class is always a good idea. Nothing like a German throne that costs as much as a house.

I like how there’s 5 volvos on this list. And that 240 is one I owuldn’t have expected.

It’s also very interesting that they also tested the new XC90 and it finished below the 240.

Seems like oppo has had sound luxury advice for years.

I wonder how much of this is due to cabin sound deadening, and how much is due to actual sound coming from the powertrain.
Cabin insulation is great and all, until you can’t hear things you need to hear, like train whistles and emergency sirens.

You must have very cheap houses, or very expensive cars.

No Teslas, interestingly, although that’s maybe because they’re not particularly common in Sweden.

Don’t know if any Teslas were tested this time. Not sure if they can still benefit from the electric motor at 110 km/h either, as Teslas have large wheels that makes a lot of noise too.

They also tested a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 that placed 20th on the list.

I own a Mk7 Golf. This list is either bullshit, the European models are MUCH quieter, or Euro luxury cars are much louder.

I saw one Model S taxi just in front of my hotel half an hour ago. I think it’s the first Tesla that I have seen so far far in Göteborg (outside a Tesla store).

I wonder how they got their measurements. Edmunds got 62.4 dB at 70 mph in the 2015 Cadillac Escalade, and 70.1 dB at full throttle.

I suspect that they didn’t do the test on the smoothest road available.

I never said it costs as much as MY house. But there’s lots of $100-150k houses out there.
